Hinckley Soap Box Derby, Leicestershire
The Hinckley BID Soap Box Derby is intended as an annual fun day for the teams, supporters and spectators of all ages from the Hinckley area, and beyond. As an event, it is also intended to raise money for local charities.
The aim is to encourage up to 50 Soap Box Teams to compete.
The idea is to utilise the natural hill on Castle Street for individual 'Time-Trial' performances – 3 runs per Team. The course will start from the Church Walk junction and end in Market Square.
'Themed' Soap Boxes are especially encouraged since they provide the most interest to spectators.
For further details, contact Steve Wegerif.

Welcome to the Scottish Cartie Association Web Site
If you are interested in gravity powered soapbox cartie and sidecar racing, you've come to the right place.
The SCA was set up in 2009 to support and encourage the sport of gravity racing in Scotland. We run Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme - the longest and fastest soapbox race in the UK - and also run the SCA Championship across the main gravity races in Scotland.
We are really keen to see more soapbox cartie and gravity sidecar races across the country because our members want more places to race! And we want more teams to take up the challenge so we have more people to race against!
If you are interested in starting your own cartie race, either as a fun community or fundraising event or as a more serious gravity race, then please feel free to browse the online resources we have here and ask questions or get in touch if you need any further information. We have a wealth of experience and can offer help and advice with all aspects of setting up and running a successful race, including those worrisome aspects such as insurance and the dreaded risk assessment. We can also provide equipment too, such as marshal bibs, flags and whistles, warning signs, tow ropes, timing gear and speed gun, etc.
Alternatively, if you are aware of any locations that might be suitable, either off road or tarmac, then please do let us know.
If you would like to get involved in cartie racing, you can get a wealth of hints and tips from this site, and also ask question and contribute your own advice. There is also a growing market in second hand carties if you want to get started with the minimum effort.

CSEx news: 2012 Tech' Spec' Published
They have both been revised from last year - substantially so in the case of the soapbox rules - so competitors should read them thoroughly to ensure they are eligible to compete.
