Cartie Tech' Spec' Summary
The various events across the UK all have subtly different rules covering cartie dimensions, weights, etc. As an aid to race teams and event organisers, the SCA has published an overview of the more common rule sets and has derived a set of universal dimensions that would comply with all the rules currently in use (Universal Cartie) and a set of measurements that would include carties built for every event (Universal Event).
This makes it easier for teams and organisers to make informed decisions when building their carties or drafting/reviewing their construction rules.
At the moment, the derived specifications are;
| Dimension | Universal Event | Universal Cartie |
| Max Weight (dry) Kg | 100 | 80 |
| Max Length mm | 3000 | 2000 |
| Max Width mm | 1500 | 1118 |
| Max Track mm | 1118 | |
| Max Wheelbase mm | 2000 | |
| Min Track mm | 700 | 700 |

With all the variations at
With all the variations at different events ................... a tall skinny cart it is!!!
Do we see this as being introduced for all events??
Is it now time to introduce a set of sensible guidelines so anyone wanting to race anywhere can do so????
As most local events follow "established" guidelines, does this seem like a good idea or do we just build for the events we want to go to???
pick'n'mix
Personally I think you just pick the events you want to go to and build for them. I don't think I'd want to drive a tall skinny cartie, and that minimum eye line rule is a bit of a nuisance. But if I just consider the events I'm likely to go to - Belchford, Catterline, Alford, CSEx, BB - the dimensions are much more sensible.
Having said that, mind, I'm going sidehack this year - much simpler.
